Description

Unit-Z Shifter is a 1 level Run & Shoot Platformer game based on the mechanics of the classic MegaMan series.

This is a demo game made for presenting the GameMaker: Studio workshop in 2016 at ITESM in Puebla, Mexico.

How to play?

Use the left and right arrow keys to move.

Use the up arrow key to jump.

Use the spacebar to shoot.

You can also use a gempad for a better game experience.

Why does it have only one level?

Well, to put it simple, the game was made to show newcomers to the GameMaker: Studio workshop the mechanics that they were going to learn trough the semester such as pixel-perfect collision, pixel-art, level design and more. It would have been awesome to develop the full game but it would give an incmplete idea of what we could be capable of teaching in only one semester, thus it only stayed as a demo. 

The gimmick was around a question:

What is the big head at the end of the level and why can't I shoot it?

This is a sequel...

The first game was only introduced as Unit-Z Artificial Threat, wich was another demo for another GMS workshop. As an instructor I told the students to deliver a game by the end of the semester, so it would be kinda strange on my side to teach but not demostrate what could be possible. In the end I was inspired by the series of MegaMan and Contra from the NES era. It had support for coop game modes. Here are some screenshots from that game:
